Hell in High School

Part 1: The Orientation Period

This is based on true story; there won’t be any connotation at all!

Well....the story begins with the notification of I am being accepted in that certain high school...

It is a Catholic based homogeneous high school, well...for your information, I am a catholic boy who was raised in a catholic family...haha

At that time, my heart jumped full of happiness! Knowing that I will be schooling in a good school that my own parents preferred!

But that was the first mistake I made!!

I let my parents chose which school I should go...

I had my own preferable school!

So, everybody knows that in the first week of the new academic year, there is a certain activity held in every school...

Yes, it is the orientation period...

A particular week to let the new students know each other, know more about the school, and know more about the city where the school resides...I mean, to know the important places in that city.

So the activities is like making attributes made of colorful papers which shows your name, and of course you had to wear them around your body which made you look like a total idiot...hahaha ...joking..

But, the making this-and-that activities are no joke...and not only that, the orientation period committee ordered (not asked) you to find pen, pencil, eraser, ruler, tea, plastic bag or any other non-academic items from a certain trademark...

Well, it would be good if the time to search those items is a day or more...

The fact is the orientation time is started at 7 AM and ended at 6 PM...

So? The time to search all of those items is only 13 hours!

And to make it even worse, most mall and department stores in my city closed at 9 PM!

So, I simply got only 3 hours to search those items without any time to had dinner!

That’s inhumane...

And if in the next day I don’t have all of the items, the orientation period committee will have their so called “reason” to be mad at me, and I ended up got punishment...

How can that be not inhumane?

I tried my best to keep up with the activities held, but in the last day, my condition got worse and I fell sick, resulting in my incapability to attend only the last activity...a mass.

Up to this point you must be thinking that it is only natural in every school to held activities like that in the orientation period.

Well, let me tell you why I considered that moment as HELL...

So, this particular high school had this rule:

Orientation Period is a MUST. It is one of the requirements for the students to do the graduation exams held by the school, and for those who does not attend in each and every activity held, will be considered have not graduated from the orientation period. Thus, he has only two options:

1. To move into another school or

2. To follow the orientation period in the next academic year with the new students, which mean my younger schoolmates...

Last time, I mentioned that I can’t attend the last activity, and my parents refused to move me into another school, that means I MUST follow those activities again with the new students in the next academic year!

So I talked to the vice headmaster authorized in handling student’s problem(s) (he is also a pastor), and he said that I had his permission to join only the last activity which I missed.

I was so happy, because that was fair!

The new academic year came, that certain pastor was moved to another catholic school and the vice headmaster authorized in handling student’s problem(s) is replaced by another pastor.

You want to know the worst part??

The old pastor did not say a word about me to the new pastor regarding my dispensation...!!

Because of my lack of knowledge regarding this, I just attended the last activity, the mass...

And considered have not graduated the orientation period, again...

HOW CAN THAT BE CONSIDERED NOT INHUMANE...???!!

In my country the senior high school is only 3 years long...

At that time, I was a second year high school student...

And I must attend that orientation period again as a third year high school student...

Because if I don’t I won’t be able to do the graduation exams I mentioned before, and my 3 years study will be futile...

So I attended the activities as a third year high school student, full with humiliation...

How can I not? I was the only third year student, the rest? Of course the first year student...

I successfully attended all of the activities with hatred...

And did the graduation exams...

And of course, left that particular high school which I despise a lot... finally...

Hahaha

At that time, my heart jumped with TRUE HAPPINESS...!!!

But due to studying there 3 years, I have lost my ability to express my emotions...

Sad, mad, happy...anything...

Coming Up Next:

The second chapter of this short story!

What kind of hell did that high school give to me through my friends...??!
